Finch Arboretum

We celebrated the first day of summer at Finch Arboretum. We’ve had such a rainy spring that the sunshine was pure delight.  This is one of my favorite parks-there are no toys, only trees, a creek + hiking trails.

It feels like such a magical place.  We usually have it to ourselves and I feel overcome with nostalgia because it reminds me of playing in the creek at my grandma + grandpas house when I was a child.  To see the delight that it brings to my kids, to have the cold creek water tickle their toes brings me so much joy.  In a world with so much noise, screens etc.  it’s nice to unplug.

Cheers to summer, sunshine + mini adventures.

Four years later.

It's been 4 years since my last blog post! A lot has happened since then. Preston just turned 10, my sweet Gracie Goose is 6, going on 16 and we've added Bear who will be 4 in 4 months to our family. Pippa our sweet chihuahua died and we have five cats. Yikes! We had some severe hardships and moments of great joy nevertheless we have landed right where we are supposed to be, our family of five. I miss blogging/journaling. Last week Preston and I spent a good 2 hours reading this little blog and looking at pictures and videos and enjoying all the 'Preston-isms'.  I would like to start this little blog back up, if I can remember how. Make a virtual memory book for our family, to remember the ins and outs of our daily life.

Apple picking @ Greenbluff

Fall is most definitely here.
It was a gorgeous day-not too hot, not too cold. The apples couldn't be any fresher, plucked right from the tree. The cider was still warm from the pasteurizer. The kids ran and climbed trees. It was a good day!

I'm so glad that I live in a world where there are Octobers.

Grace turns two.

So, Goose had her birthday last Wednesday. My baby turned 2.  It was a really fun day, very relaxed. We started out by going to see a movie at the Garland theater, Ice Age 4. It was Graces first movie theater experience. She did pretty good. We had to get up and walk in the aisle a few times when she got bored but I figured that was to be expected.  We had a party that night with family and neighbors/friends.  We filled the trampoline with balloons and had  BBQ. It just so happened that Graces friends have big brothers that are Prestons friends so one it got dark we had a outdoor movie for the boys. They watched ET for the first time. Preston kept calling it AT AT. ;)

I wanted to write a little bit about Grace at 2.

She is potty training-we are out of diapers except at night and naps.
She is quite the singer, her favorite songs are Twinkle Twinkle and Jesus Loves Me
Her favorite friends are Callen, Vivi and Sadie
She LOVES babies. You will find them all undressed. Not sure what that's about!
She loves Dora. I mean LOVES Dora..to the point where I'm wondering if there is a Dora detox center??
She is the perfect mix of girly girl and tom boy. She can be found fighting with a light saber while holding a baby. Future super mom maybe?
She is talking soooo very much.
Shes just pretty much amazing. Yup. She is. It's hard to think about how to sum her up.

Pretty much none of the pictures that I have of this day turned out good-we were just too busy making memories to capture them! You know what I mean?

Giving Daddy a hug goodnight-the last night of being 1. When she wakes up she'll be 2!!

She took every present she opened to grandpa.

and last but not least, the cake!
