Thoughts on Journaling

Did you happen to catch midday connection on positive life radio today? Their topic was on journaling-and I thought it only appropriate that I post the link here! Click here to be directed to their homepage, there you will find a link where you can listen to their program. If you don't want to listen to the program here is recap:

What is journaling? Journaling is an account of day to day events, a record of experiences and reflections, a recording of our thoughts.

Why should we journal?
Daily we are bombarded with thoughts-journaling is a way to focus and listen to Gods still, quiet voice. It is a time where we can "still our souls"

Another reason is to remember, document, and encourage us through hard times. It's a way of looking back at Gods faithfulness and being encouraged in out present circumstances or challenges.

What does journaling look like?
We are told that journaling comes in many forms. Jouranling doesn't have to be eloquent, it does not have to be written for another reader, and it definitly doesn't have to be publishable! You don't have to worry about spelling or neatness-just be free to write!

Fears to overcome when journaling. One listener said she does not journal, for fear that someone would read it. We were given tips to avoid this, such as being discreet, limit the amount of information you write. You don't have to give specific names and details. Also, you can use metaphors that only you know. And then there is the write it and burn it method-which is a sure guarantee that no one will read it!

Two resources for you {I have not read them, but look forward to!} are:
