Today Angie and ventured to Jo-Anns to use our 50% off coupons. Surprise, surprise I did not even end up using mine-because everything I bought was already 40, 50 or 60% off. I got a great deal of card stock paper 5 for $1.00. I like their selection of paper a lot better than Michaels and it's cheaper than a lot of the scrapbook stores. My favorite finds though some frames that I picked up for 60% off! Some of them have birds on them. (I have sort of a fascination with making bird cards etc., although none are posted on my bestnesst blog) but I am really excited because I have a plan. Since the frames are a bird theme, I was looking for bible verses with, go figure, birds. I found...
Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow, reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them, are you not more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26
I looked some more and found an old poem/song by written by Civilla Martin in 1905.
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion. My constant friend is he.
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me
I sing because I'm happy
I sing because I'm free
For his eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me.
"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender words I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lost my doubts and fears
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see
His eye is on the sparrow and I know he watches me
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free,
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me.
I know this truth, but then I go about my life, and I don't give the "little" things to God. Instead I chose to worry about them and try to handle them myself. What a concept, to know that the God of the universe is concerned with the "little" things in my life, nothing is too small for Him to care about. He even knows that number of hairs on our head. Doesn't it make you feel kind of special?!?
You'll have to be sure to check out my bestnesst blog in a few days and see my bird pictures and cards and fun new paper!
That's a neat poem.
