Today is the first day of Autumn, although it won't really feel like it with temps in the 80's! I have mixed feelings about it being Fall. First of all, I am excited because Fall is my absolute favorite season. I just love that it puts me into a sort of sensory overload {in a good way} with all of it's sights, sounds, tastes, textures, but the downside is always so short lived and then we are right into winter which is my LEAST favorite season-yuck!
To welcome Fall we've been drinking lots of pumpkin spiced lattes, eating pumpkin scones and even made this fun Fall garland.
Are you sad to see summer go or are you ready for Fall?

It's just around the corner
Can you believe that August is just a few days away? This Summer is going by really, really fast! Do you think it is too early to start thinking about Fall? If you do, then I am guilty. Because I find my mind wandering...thinking about picking fresh apples at Greenbluff, cooking squash and other yummy root vegetables, pumpkin pie, the colorful leaves...Thanksgiving...o.k., so maybe my mind has wandered a little too far, I will not think about Thanksgiving quite yet:) If you haven't guessed, Fall is by far my most favorite time of year and I love the anticipation that August brings. All month long I wait with anticipation as Summer winds down. I anticipate cooler days and cozy nights. I anticipate wearing my jeans, sweater, and even socks {I live in my flip flops all Summer long!}
It's almost like August goes by in slow motion-because I just want to savor every bit of sunshine before Fall is here. It's my last chance, so I try to make the most of it. I call the month of August Summers Encore-the last hurrah, the grand finale.
Even though I haven't been in school for quite a while I still get the urge to buy notebooks, loose leaf paper, pencils, pens, folders, and binders. I love the crisp white pages and the smell of newly sharpened pencils. Ahhhh....Remember going school shopping for clothes and getting a new wardrobe? I remember feeling gypped when I was out of school and that no longer happened. Mom, do you have any desire to take me shopping for a new wardrobe for no other reason than the fact that September is around the corner-no? OK, didn't think so.
September is like my New Years. Even though it doesn't officially mark the start of a new calendar year-it seems more like a time of new beginnings then January 1st. Even though I don't have a school age child, it will be the start of new activities at church, getting back into a routine...sometimes I miss the routine that summer lacks.
You know what else I love? All the craft stores are starting to stock their Fall paper-I love the leaf motif almost as much as I love all things owls and birds!
Am I the only one-or is anyone else thinking about Fall yet?
