promptings

What ministry has God uniquely entrusted to you? What goals can you set for this ministry?
**This is taken from the book, {Journal Keeping, Writing for Spiritual Growth} by Luann Budd.
At this point in my life, my ministry is to my family. I really feel like God wants me to focus on this area.
I have many goals but one goal that I want to focus one is praying for my family. This often gets put on the back burner {when I don't have my priorities in order} I really want this to be something that I am diligent about. Things that hinder my prayer life are when I begin to pray out of habit and pray the same things everyday. Ughh. Sometimes I don't know how to get over that hurdle.

journal prompts

List all the roles that you play, your talents, your education, your expertise, your friends, your ministry. Try to write several pages answering the question, who am I?

promptings

If you are like me-you sit down to journal, but you don't think you have anything interesting to journal about. I am going to start what I will call promptings. Journal prompts to help you get started. Usually once I start writing, I realize that I actually have a lot to journal about!
Here is something basic:

Write down 5 things that you are thankful for and why.

I will start:
1. I am sooo thankful for our house. I just love it. Even though we've been here a little over a year, I still get excited about it like the first time we saw it! I love looking around at all the changes that we've made and how we've personalized it. I also love seeing Daves {my husband} handiwork all over. My favorite time in our house is early morning, when it is still dawn and I am the only one up. Coffee in hand I love to just reflect-and be.

2. I am thankful for cooler days in the summer. Who doesn't love a break from 80-90 degree weather? It makes me long for Fall and the new beginning it brings!

3. I am thankful for my sisters! I cannot imagine my life without them. They are my best friends!

4. I am thankful for the joy it brings me when Preston calls me "mama." I just love it!

5. I am thankful for books. I love a good read! {is that nerdy? oh, well. I don't care!}

When all else fails, and you feel stuck-just start writing down what you are thankful for and reflect on the blessings you do have. I tend to be a pessimist, {ughh...I hate writing that, but it's true!} so focusing on the positives really changes my mindset and mood, it steers me in the right direction if you will.

Happy journaling!
