Yesterday and today have been such wonderful, happy days. It wasn't until I sat down to journal a bit that I realized why. It is August 26-that means that “summers encore” has begun. That is what I like to call the last few weeks of August through the first few weeks of September. Summer is coming to an end, just lingering while the rest of us get into our new routines. It is a time of transition and new beginnings. The air is just a tad cooler, the sun more golden. These days are precious you don't know just how many more there will be.

Days of shorts and tank tops are almost at an end. Flip flops your days are numbered. Hello old familiar sweaters and corduroy pants. The official attire of fall.

BBQ hamburgers you days are also numbered. Soon you will be replaced with chunky beef stew. Pot roasts. Root vegetables and soon......turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole. Ohhh, I can't wait. I am drooling as a type!

I anticipate all the firsts that we will experience as a family. Preston's first Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. Will his eyes light up when he sees his first snow fall? We will also be experiencing all these firsts in our first new house. This Christmas no more traveling over the pass. We will get to wake up and have Christmas morning in our own house, as a family.

Fall awakens all of my senses. I love the smells, the colors of all the leaves, the sound of them crunching under your feet and the taste of all of the fall food of course. Fall is so alive!

I eagerly await all of the holiday celebrations with the three F's. Family, friends and food. (and pumpkin lattes from Starbucks!)

Fall....I welcome your arrival and I wait with anticipation for you to be here in full!

PS-Can anyone else smell the smell of freshly sharpened pencils in the air?:)
